Garrison Women’s Health is proud to be the only site in New Hampshire that is accredited by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry to perform and interpret DXA (bone density) scans. This accomplishment solidifies our commitment to the highest quality of care for our patients.
Screening for Osteoporosis
Bone Density testing is recommended for most post-menopausal women every two to five years after a baseline test a year after one’s last period.
The purpose of the test is to look for signs of Osteoporosis, a deterioration of your bones that can lead to breaks and discomfort.
Images will be taken of points in your spine and your hip. Our New Hampshire bone density providers can offer several prevention and treatment alternatives if your test shows you have this condition.
It is a quick and easy test. No need to change out of your street clothes!
New England Mammography & Bone Density Center
Bone Density testing is performed by the New England Mammography and Bone Density Center, an extension of the Garrison office, where an interpreted DXA report is sent to your referring provider soon after.
The environment is warm, friendly, and manned by the same several individuals, year after year.
We are happy to combine this test with your yearly physical!
