InfertilityReproductive Surgery

Safe and effective surgical infertility treatments.

Among the treatment options for infertility, surgery is commonly used to improve a woman’s reproductive health. Our providers at Garrison Women’s Health are trained in state-of-the-art treatments and are privileged to have access to the very best that technology can offer.

Surgery options available to treat infertility:

Hysteroscopy

A small, telescope-like instrument is inserted into the uterine cavity during this outpatient procedure, which allows the surgeon to diagnose and address problems within the cavity such as scar tissue, fibroids, or polyps.

Laparoscopy

A surgeon inserts a small, telescope-like instrument through the belly button and other small instruments through the abdominal wall, allowing her to view, assess, and possibly correct issues within the pelvic organs.

Laparotomy

During a laparotomy, a surgeon makes a larger incision to access both the abdominal and pelvic cavities to deal with problems like large ovarian cysts or uterine fibroids. Recovery time is typically longer due to the type of incision.

How does surgery help my fertility?

During a comprehensive evaluation of your unique situation, your GWH provider may identify that your fallopian tube is blocked by scar tissue, which won’t allow sperm to connect with the egg, or that you have another issue that is preventing you from conceiving. Surgery will allow your provider to further explore underlying issues and correct them so you can get on your way to reaching your goal of having a baby.
