GynecologyAnnual Exam

Yearly preventative care for the best possible you.

Let’s face it: Whether it’s an SAT or an annual physical, nobody really likes exams. We recognize that and try to make your annual gynecological appointment as comfortable and relaxed as possible (fun, even!) Whether it’s your first exam or your thirty-first, we take the time to get to know you so we can provide individualized care for your unique needs.

What you can expect during your annual exam?

The more informed your physician is, the better she or he can help you manage your health. That’s why, during your appointment, your gynecologist will talk with you about your health history, ask questions about your health based on what part of your life cycle you’re in, and discuss any concerns you may have.

As part of your annual exam, your doctor will examine your breasts, pelvic area, vagina, and cervix. She or he will pay special attention to any areas of concern you bring up during your discussion. Depending on what they find and on what stage of life you are in, they will request testing to help confirm or rule out what is found during the exam.

You won’t have to go any further than our office to undergo most routine and specialized testing. Your annual exam will include a pap test, where we collect cell samples from the cervix and vagina, which are then checked for signs of cancer. We also can provide on-site human papillomavirus (HPV) testing, mammography, bone density testing, ultrasounds, and laboratory services.

What happens if your pap or HPV test is abnormal?

Routine screening helps us identify abnormalities in cells and tissues. The good news is that when caught early, the majority of problems can either be monitored or treated right here in our office!
