Garrison’s Patient Portal Notice on Lab Results

As a patient at Garrison Women’s Health, we value transparency and your right to access your medical information as soon as it is available under the Cures Act. What this means is that our clients can now review their health records on smartphones and other apps almost immediately. If you’ve done any testing with us recently, you may have noticed you’re able to view your lab results directly in our patient portal.

With this ease of access comes new experiences for our patients that we’d like to address. Before this level of transparency, a provider would obtain your lab results and be able to review the information prior to discussing them with you, or to answer any questions you may have. As of now, you may receive your results outside of our office hours before our team has had the chance to review them, which understandably may lead to concerns as you analyze any findings. In addition, sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference between an abnormal result and a laboratory range of normal. Our goal is to minimize unnecessary anxiety.

With this, we ask that you please understand that we won’t be able to answer any of your medical questions until after we’ve been able to review the data ourselves and we encourage you to schedule a telehealth visit to address any concerns.
