Ultrasound at Garrison Women’s Health is used in gynecology to exam pelvic organs and – along with mammography – the breasts.
First in the Country to Offer In-Office Ultrasound
In the 1970’s, Garrison Women’s Health Center obtained the first ultrasound machine in a private physician’s office in the country. In the 1980’s the practice added the first intravaginal ultrasound transducer in the state of New Hampshire.
Today we continue to offer the most advanced technology available – 3-D ultrasound for both our OB and Gyn patients, as well as supplementing our Mammography care with breast ultrasonography.
Ultrasound is performed exclusively in our Dover, NH office for your convenience. We are often able to offer same day scanning for patients with acute problems.
Ultrasound is very helpful diagnosing many gynecologic disorders such as:
- Identifying a pelvic or breast mass
- Show the location and characteristics of a mass
- Detect problems causing pelvic pain
- Locate the position of an intrauterine device (IUD)
- Monitor ovulation in treating infertility
Accredited Ultrasound Technicians
Our ultrasound department is accredited thru the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. To obtain this accreditation we needed to demonstrate excellence in accuracy, quality and patient care.
We have been acknowledged as a practice that meets or exceeds nationally excepted standards.
Ultrasound is also used extensively in pregnancy. For more information, see our Prenatal Ultrasound.
