Our Team of Midwives

Midwifery means “with women,” and Garrison Women’s Health Center is proud of our history of supporting women with midwives from our Dover, NH office.

Ours was the first practice in New Hampshire to offer care by Certified Nurse Midwives.

Since Judy Edwards’ start in 1975, our midwives have provided the Seacoast NH and Southern Maine community with their compassionate care, individualized attention, and medical expertise.

What Midwives Do

We are committed to the importance of life-long care of women, and also share a particular passion for prenatal care.

We want to help you experience a happy and healthy pregnancy, and look forward to supporting you through the life-changing event of having a child.

Empowering Women

As Certified Nurse Midwives we: 

• Believe in the natural process of pregnancy, labor, and birth
• Use a holistic approach to women’s health
• Value individual empowerment
• Serve as your resource for obstetric and non-obstetric concerns
• Provide well-woman care for all ages
• Work closely and collaboratively with our physicians
• Facilitate the Centering pregnancy program

NH Certified Nurse Midwives

Certified Nurse Midwives are all fully trained nurses, licensed in the state of New Hampshire, who have additional, extensive training and national certification in midwifery.

We work closely with you and with the physicians at Garrison Women’s Health to provide personalized care.

Garrison has a collaborative model for midwifery care.  You can choose whether to see a midwife or a doctor for your visits, but most of our clients see both.
