Summer Help!

During the spring and summer of 2011, we have made some additions to our staff to meet our patient’s needs while Dr Banaski is on maternity leave with her twins. We are very happy welcoming Rebecca Jones, MD, and Lorraine Bello, MD, board certified OB-GYN physicians to join the Garrison family.

Dr. Jones will be with us during April, May, and most of June. Her permanent home is in western Pennsylvania, but she has worked as a “travelling doctor” ever since her children finished college. She loves to travel, and she will be arriving home from her current assignment in New Zealand just a week before she begins working at Garrison Women’s Health Center. Dr. Jones and Dr. Chase became friends when they worked together as mission surgeons in Guatemala 2 years ago.  Dr. Jones loves the outdoors and actually learned to surf last year when she worked as a travelling doctor at York Hospital in York, ME.

Dr Lorraine (Rainy) Bello will be with us in June, July and August. She has permanent homes in Northampton, Massachusetts and Antigua, Guatemala.   Rainy was in private practice for many years in Northampton Massachusetts. She was actually Dr. Chase’s mother’s OBGYN! Rainy left private practice and became a locum tenens doctor to pursue her dual passions of travel and mission work. She is currently in Sri Lanka doing mission work for Doctors without Borders.   Rainy has done mission work in Mexico, Guatemala, Africa, and on the Mercy Ship, which docks in various ports, mostly in Africa.   Rainy and Dr. Chase have known each other for about 30 years both professionally and as family friends. They have worked together in Guatemala on the same surgical mission trip two times.

We feel so fortunate to welcome these excellent physicians during this time. They already embrace our philosophy of supporting women with excellence and compassion as part of their own personal philosophies of practicing medicine. We thank you in advance for welcoming them into our Garrison Family.
