Commendation by the Governor of New Hampshire
We at Garrison are excited to announce that on August 24th, 2011 at the Governor's executive council meeting, a Commendation to Garrison Women's Health was read by the Governor and accepted by Dr. Pamela Bertram. The Commendation was for the 40 year committment Garrison has made to Avis Goodwin Community Health Center and to the community at large.
STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE BY HIS EXCELLENCY JOHN H. LYNCH, GOVERNOR
A COMMENDATION GARRISON WOMEN'S HEALTH
WHEREAS, Garrison Women's Health was established in 1962, offering specialized care to women in the greater Dover area; and
WHEREAS, The founders of Garrison Women's Health were instrumental in assisting Avis Goodwin in establishing Strafford County's first prenatal clinic in 1969, providing support and resources to Goodwin Community Health for more than 40 years, coordinating care such as social work, nutrition and mental health services for at-risk populations; and
WHEREAS, Garrison Women's health has expanded to a practice of five physicians, six midwives and two nurse practitioners offering complete obstetric and gynecological care; and
WHEREAS, Garrison Women's Health has worked diligently to provide women with high quality health care and served as an active member of the community, sponsoring the Green Waves - Dover's women's soccer team, the New Hampshire Breast Care Coalition, Moms on the Run, HUB Family Resource Center, Dover Fire and Rescue and many programs organized through Strafford County CAP;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN H. LYNCH, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire, and the Executive Council, do hereby commend GARRISON WOMEN'S HEALTH for its dedication to the Strafford County community and the State and wish it all the best in the future.
